Detailed information for your application

1. Motivational cover letter

In your cover letter, please make sure you explain your motivations to take part in the IOMBA and you answer the following points:

  • What role do you see for International and Non-Governmental Organizations in shaping the world agenda?
  • Describe a challenging situation where you were faced with a cultural barrier and how you dealt with this challenge.

The cover letter should not exceed 3 pages or 1’500 words.

2. Complete academic and professional resume (CV)

A complete academic and professional resume contains a detailed chronological listing of all educational institutions you attended from elementary school onwards (name and city of the institution, years, degrees awarded) as well as a complete list of your professional work experience and relevant information.

3. Copy of university diploma & grade transcript

Applicants are requested to enclose photocopies of degrees or diplomas already obtained, as well as official transcripts listing official record of all courses taken and examination grades received, together with the grading scale and an explanation of its meaning. The official transcripts must be sent to the IO-MBA Admission office (see address above) in a sealed envelope, directly by the Conferring University.

All international educational credentials and transcripts should be provided both in their original language and with a certified English or French translation.

4. Copy of passport or ID card

5. Official GMAT or GRE

All applicants must complete the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). As several of the programme’s core courses require a high level of quantitative and analytical skills, a high GMAT score or GRE will enhance your chances of being admitted, but a high score does not guarantee admission into the programme and a lower score does not preclude admission. Please note that official results must be sent directly to the IO-MBA admissions office from the Pearson VUE (a business of NCS Pearson, Inc. who administers the GMAT® test). If you have already taken the GMAT, we encourage you to enclose a photocopy of your score report with your application package. We will accept GMAT scores that are up to five years old. Our institution code for reporting your GMAT score is 651-QT-72. If you will be submitting a GRE score, please send us the original result as soon as available.

The GMAT can be taken year-round in Switzerland and around the world. Please follow this link to look for dates and register online. An interesting guide entitled ‘How to Study for the GMAT’ is available here.
